Bacteria

Bacteria are the oldest and most widespread form of life known. They are everywhere: in the air, water, land, animals and plants.

As they are so tiny, they cannot be seen with the naked eye, but their inexhaustible activity means that we can indicate their presence. There are bacteria that can be dangerous: tetanus, wound infection, tooth decay, in short, all of these are the product of bacteria.

Bacteria are generally a thousand times smaller than animal cells, and we can only observe them well using electron microscopes. They have a great importance in nature, as they are present in the natural cycles of nitrogen, carbon, phosphorus and many elements in nature. They can also transform organic into inorganic substances and vice versa.

They are also very important in fermentations, used by industry and in the production of antibiotics. In addition, they play an important factor in the destruction of dead plants and animals. How interesting, right?

Indeed, life on our planet would not exist without bacteria, which allow many of the essential functions of ecosystems. A typical sized bacterium is so small that it is completely invisible to the eye.

Types of bacteria

Bacteria are very important to humans, both for good and for bad, due to their chemical effects and the role they play in spreading disease. In its beneficial effect, some bacteria produce antibiotics, such as streptomycin, which is capable of curing diseases.

Bacteria are very important, as they convert nitrogen to a useful form by certain plant roots or provide the intense taste in yogurt. Bacteria are used in the production of vinegar, the coagulation of milk proteins, which is used in the manufacture of almost all cheeses, yogurt, and similar products.

In cosmetics, many of the actives, such as low molecular weight proteins, anti-wrinkle ingredients, and antioxidants, are being created with the use of specific enhanced types of bacteria.
